BRICK’s second region opened in Buffalo, NY with the launch of BRICK Buffalo Academy Charter School in 2023. We are in the early phase of collaborating with the Buffalo community to bring our innovative model to Buffalo. Across regions, BRICK is committed to offering high-quality schools and supportive programs that help children thrive and families prosper.
About BRICK Buffalo Academy Charter School
At BRICK Buffalo Academy Charter School ("BBACS"), our mission is to graduate a community of learners who will contribute positively to our global society and embrace their role as architects in building a just and better world. By fostering a love for learning and critical thinking, we prepare students for academic and personal success, paving the way for exceptional college and career pathways. We use a holistic approach to ensure that students from East Buffalo neighborhoods have the tools needed to be college, career and life-ready upon graduation.
Our school provides a rigorous, inclusive, and culturally responsive curriculum that challenges students academically and builds their social emotional competencies. We also immerse our families in an ecosystem of rich community partnerships to support them in maintaining the stable and healthy homes necessary for children to thrive. In partnership with our families, we support our students to draw strength from their identity and become leaders in their communities.
Individualized learning
We meet children where they are by customizing the curriculum to tap into their individual interests and ensure they have the necessary support beyond the classroom to reach their full potential.
Culturally responsive
We leverage community knowledge, cultural heritage, and personal identity to create a learning environment that resonates with and empowers our students. We ensure that school leadership is reflective of the community.
Comprehensive
Our curriculum focuses on the whole child, incorporating STEM proficiency, humanities, athletics, and creative expression, leading our students to far outperform statewide averages.

Our approach and plans to grow
In 2023, we celebrated the official launch of our second region in Buffalo, NY, with the opening of BRICK Buffalo Academy Charter School under the leadership of longtime community member Antwan Barlow. As we expand our services in the Buffalo region, our goal is to understand and meet the needs of the Buffalo community. We will collaborate with residents to implement our innovative school and community model, addressing every stage of a family’s needs from pre-cradle to career.
Building on our experience in Newark, we will partner with local organizations and leaders to resource change-makers and unify supportive services. Our focus will remain on running excellent schools, providing holistic support, and creating pathways to college and career success. As we expand our Buffalo program, we promise that every family, regardless of their journey, will receive the support they need to achieve their dreams.
